one week after functional meeting...

...I took my notes from the conference and realised that no matter how many notes I have in my laptop, how many smart words I keep in my mind- I should allways benefit from the experience of other people who have taken already the challenge to make their dreams come true...

Why am I writing about it? Well, we have now holiday time- the period of intensive preparation to the new term. At the beginning of july I asked myself whether I am able to use all my potential, all my time, all the possibilities around me to execute all my plans. And then, I went to Cracow to attend functional meeting. I met there one Alumni who is former LCP of Cracow. She prepared special session for the delegates to talk about her experience, her outstanding motivation to wake up every day with the same determination to achieve her ambitious goals on professional and personal level...And she did it. Thanks to her passion and strong will. Now she is successfull person that everyone'd like to be...Meeting with her was one of the most inspiring moment during the seminar.

But still, Member Committee prepared for us many other sessions in order to prepare new EB members to fulfill their role in Local Committees: training by PriceWaterhouseCoopers about competencies and recruitment, trainings by MCVPs about our functional area: ER, TM, MC,X,F, group exercises, case studies, etc- lot of knowledge in short period of time. From the mornings till the evenings we had no free time- even meals were served on the hall- we used to sit on the floor with no chairs, no tables- but next to our session rooms :D and we were savouring these moments of break :D

One week after functional meeting I'm calling the seminar to my mind- knowledge I took, people I met, delegates I had fun with and I'm saying to myself:

"I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do."

Hmmm, the best mean for hangover after party is.... to write and share what you feel on your blog. Yes, yesterday we had a welcome party for Danco (hint for Polish: read Danczo, cause it's C with somethig above it), our new intern from Macedonia working at Gemius. It started at 10 pm at Ala's place and lasted till... noone remembers :P We welcomed Danco in Polish traditional way with bread and salt and Polish vodka with Coca Cola (the second part is a new tradition established by Ela :P) Photos will be uploaded tomorrow cause I left my camera at Ala's place.As we are talking about Dance one more much more frigtening situation with him.Sunny Sunday afternoon. I've just picked up Danco from the airport and I'm driving my mother's (!!!) car through the city. Suddenly in the center of Warsaw, at the crossroad near Rotunda a policeman waved his hand in front of my car (my mother's car in fact)"Good morning. Documents, please. You have 30 seconds to find two offences that you commited."You can imagine what I felt. It was the first time I was stopped by the police, in the center of the city and in my mothers' car!But it wasn't that difficult to find those two things. I didn't turn on the lights and Danco didn't fasten his seatbelts.And suddenly the next unpredictable thing happend. The policeman let me go!So not to bore you to death more. That's it for my experiences with our interns :)Malwina

fight with my laptop

On Wednesday I was sitting in a train to finally reach my home:)
I live quite far from Warsaw and I need to travel five and half hours to see my family. So I decided to take laptop with me to watch a film and maybe finally put my files in order, beacuse recently a lot of files piled up on my deskop and I didn't have time to sort them:P
After 1 hours of struggling with piles, sorting, deleting, creating the new ones I managed to put all AIESEC stuff in one folder and when I wanted to move it to another hard-disk, the stupid window appeared that the program you were trying to move is busy and you couldn't do it. The only possibility, I could do, was to click OK and when I did it something terrible happened what I still cannot comprehent. Half of my files have disappeared and I still don't know where they are:( I've already searched almost everywhere (in truch, in temporary files, on both hard disks) and nothing.
